I've been thinking about it, and I don't understand the criticisms with Sonic Lost World. Come on, guys. This is a great game. Yeah, it doesn't feel very Sonic-ish, but it was designed that way on purpose. Just because a Sonic game isn't about mindless speed doesn't mean it's bad. For some reason! people complain about the story and villains of this game. Answer me this: when has Sonic ever had a compelling story, and when has Dggman been threatening in any game before 06? And to think people are calling this a ripoff of Mario!?!? Wow. Just wow.

My honest thoughts on Adventure 2:
I still like to play it, but when looking at it technically, it's the worst 3D game in the series. Sonic is clunky, Knuckles is clunkier, and Tails is clunkiest. They level design doesn't worl in their favor. Even during high speed segments, Sonic feels slower than he was in SA and even LOST WORLD. The story is good for what it is, but there are so many plotholes that it's not even funny. The soundtrack is also meh, with the exception of a few tracks(It Doesn't Matter>Live and Learn imo). Unlike Heroes, both stories feel exactly the same. Much like Black Knight, I would only recommend this game to hardcore Sonic fans(disclaimer: I love Sonic and the Black Knight), but even then you probably won't like it very much. That being said, I think the game itself is terrible on a technical scale.
It's also the only video game in which I can barely tolerate the voice acting.

Heroes has all the teams play relatively the same and go through the same levels (with different layouts admittedly). I'm not really arguing one way or the other, I just want to know where you're coming from. Also what plotholes are there in Adventure 2? It's been a while since I last played but I remember it being pretty consistent if a little confusing. Sans that I personally think the first Adventure has aged worse.

It's the fact that the different teams in Heroes had at least SOME differences, to the point where Team Heroes and Team Dark were the only two teams that felt remotely similar to me. They also have different reactions to different things. There are a lot of recycled cutscenes in SA2, whereas there are only a few in Heroes? As for the plot holes... -Why does everyone mistake Shadow for Sonic, even in broad daylight? -Why is the Master Emerald in the desert and not on Angel Island? -Amy is seen rescuing Sonic on Prison Island, while Tails is breaking through the militaries robots to get to Sonic as well. What happened to Tails? -How did Sonic destroy the Eclipse Cannon at the end of the Heroes story when it is intact in the last story? -How did Eggman place the final emerald into the Cannon when Sonic got there first? -Who won? Sonic or Shadow? -Why is Shadow sealed in a government base when Maria sent him to Earth in a capsule herself? Did they capture him on Earth? If so, why didn't he fight back? How can he fight them now and not back then? -Why did Eggman need a big spaceship to get to the ARK when he's seen there in the stage "Lost Colony?"

Regardless of any answers I have to these plot holes (and I'm pretty sure '06 is rife with them too), this made me laugh. I smell a CinemaSins video for SA2.

How can he fight them now and not back then? -Why did Eggman need a big spaceship to get to the ARK when he's seen there in the stage "Lost Colony?" Alright that's understandable. It kind of made sense that they recycled cutscenes since either story could be played first but I can see why you think that. Here's my interpretation of those plotholes though: 1. I'll give you that one. It's plot induced stupidity. 2. I'm guessing Rouge took it and Knuckles had intercepted her at the time (there is a desert on Angel Island (Sandopolis Zone from S&K) so this isn't too far fetched). 3. The developers were too lazy to put him in the scene? I dunno. Given that it's suggested that he and Amy were still together when Sonic later found them, I'd guess that he was keeping watch outside. 4. We never really see the cannon open again after that though. I don't think the outer shell was destroyed in that scene (though my memory could be failing me). 5. Sonic went straight to the cannon itself while Eggman went to the control room (why Sonic decided to do this is admittedly never explained). 6. The only way both scenarios make sense is if Sonic won (interestingly in the Sonic X version the battle is never finished, the cannon is damaged by the fight and Shadow just leaves once Gerald's program activates since he doesn't have any reason to keep up his loyalty to Eggman after that). 7. Now here's the kicker. It's only a plothole if he was on the ARK in the first place. It's implied at several points that Shadow was created on Prison Island and his memories are fake (as of Shadow the Hedgehog it's canon that he was on the Ark but since that came after I'm ignoring it for now). If that was the case Eggman finding him would be the first time he woke up at all. Also why did they keep him on Prison Island while the Biolizard was left on the ARK? Personally I believe the writers intended for this to be what actually happened but left it ambiguous and the Shadow the Hedgehog writers didn't notice (likely due to the confusing way the plotline was presented) or just ignored it. 8. Did he ever use the spaceship to get to the ARK? (that's not rhetorical, I actually can't remember) If not then it would make sense that he was keeping it in case the teleporter broke down (said teleporter Sonic's group had no way of knowing about). Whew. Like I said the story wasn't that well presented but I don't think there are that many big problems with it.

Time for my weekly Silver rant.
You know what I can't stand? When people hate Silver for his play style. This is ungodly hypocritical, because the people who say this usually complain about how everyone played in Sonic 06. Plus, why would we need THREE speedy hedgehogs?
It also irks me when people call him unnecessary. First of all, half of the characters in the entire series are irrelevant. Second, he has plenty of purpose in Sonic 06 and the Rivals series. Sure, his positivity has been shown in previous characters, but none of them had to go through the freaking apocalypse. Blaze is no different because her seriousness and self-dependence has already been seen in Shadow and Gamma. Silver has a personality of his own, being determined and short-tempered. He and Sonic may have the whole "justice" thing, but that's where the similarities stop. If anything, Shadow is more unnecessary because they already had Metal Sonic for a rival.
Oh yeah and his boss fight. This is an absolute bullshit reason to hate this guy. It wasn't even bad. You just need to get the hang of it and it becomes easy. Plus, he had a much better boss fight in Sonic Generations. Keep in mind that Reala also had a bad boss in NiGHTS Into Dreams, then had an improved fight in Journey of Dreams. I love how people don't see this.
His voice is annoying? No, no it is not. The voice actors in Sonic 06 just put little effort into their roles because the game was rushed. I guarantee that nearly every 14 year old boy has a voice similar to him. I can think of plenty of other Sonic characters that have had annoying voices, like, you know, SONIC. Plus, why does that matter? Why do people critique voice acting in games anyway? These are games, not bloody movies.
Bottom line, Silver the Hedgehog is an incredibly overhated character. I'm sorry, but every complaint I've heard for him is either petty, hypocritical, or both. It's funny how I can rage about something over and over without any one thing causing it.
