I mean if you garner fun out of Sonic 06 then more the power to you but honestly it baffles me that this game is defended like this. This is exactly how I feel about this subject.

Remember when I said this game was challenging? Remember when everyone disagreed and said I was "wrong?" Eat your words:
"The days of the Dreamcast were over- with Sonic the Hedgehog(2006), Sonic was back with his speed, his winding paths, his breathtaking bumpers, and, of course, his rings. He would definitely need those rings, too, as this tough game seriously tested players' reflexes and accuracy."
-Quotation taken from The History of Sonic the Hedgehog
Check mate.

What does this even have to do with anything. It is a Sonic the Hedgehog History book of course it would only talk about the positive of game. It is like me siting an opinion article. Meaningless.

It also wasn't written by anybody from Sega.

It was still an opinion article. Exactly my point. It's their opinion that the game is good, and I agree with them. Just because someone agrees with your opinion does not automatically mean you are right, besides, just because it it not written by SEGA doesn't mean that SEGA couldn't of bribed them into talking positive about their game, hell, the people who wrote may not have even PLAYED the damn game

It was still an opinion article. Exactly my point. It's their opinion that the game is good, and I agree with them. So if I quoted someone who said that the game is horrible and I agree with them. Where would we be. We already know people agree with you. Hell people in this thread have said that they agree with you.

I'm surprised nobody has talked about the infamous town missions.
And i will pay money to see this man defend them.

What does this even have to do with anything. It is a Sonic the Hedgehog History book of course it would only talk about the positive of game. It bashed Sonic R a little, you know. It also wasn't written by anybody from Sega. That quote just killed your argument. If its not from Sega, It's from an UNOFFICIAL Sonic the Hedgehog history book, that does not prove anything. If you're going to use the word of some random Joe as evidence to prove that the game is "a good difficult game" then allow me to counter with this: if you go on any critic site like metacritic or what have have you, a vast majority critics and regular users have given the game low scores. That's more "factual" evidence that the game is bad than your Sonic book. And before you bring up that positive score from a critic that you used in the Unpopular Gaming Opinions do keep this in mind: Actuall, Sonic 06 did get SOME praise when it came out. Remember Play Magazine? The guys that gave it a 9/10? In his REVIEW COPY, he didn't play the final version. To quote my source: Dave Halverson of Play Magazine initially gave Sonic the Hedgehog a 9.5/10 score for the Xbox 360 version. In the following issue, however, Halverson reassessed it as 8.5/10, citing that he was incorrectly told that the load times and glitches in his review copy would not be in the final version of the game.[34] In a later review for the PS3, Halverson was frustrated with the glitches and load times not being improved upon, as well as how the game ran marginally worse despite the extra development time; Halverson gave the PS3 version a 5.5/10

Even in Adventure it was unneeded. It should be like Colors. *Raises hand* First: Town Missions had their set of good, bad, and meh. I play the shit outta the Sonic Man mission because it's fun and it's hilarious to see a grown man acting like Sonic when he's talking to the real Sonic. Suprisingly, the escort missions aren't horrible, as the AI is actually smart enough to run and hide from the danger. Some bad town missions are the ones that are puzzles and make you need to use your brain (Like that annoying portal puzzle mission that's REQUIRED) or the enemy hunting missions that have some sort of instant loss thing to them (Those fucking explosive barrels in the warehouse district one and the ones that give you no rings). The meh missions are pretty much the missions that test your speed by making you go through rings since there's so many of them. Second: Depends on the game, but a Hub World is a nice thing in a Sonic game to me because I like being able to goof around as a character and interact with random NPCs without having to worry about completing certain objectives like in a normal level. Now I demand my money.

It's still an opinion. Also, the book is copyrighted(not written) by Sega, includes interviews by three of Sonic's creators, and is edited by Les Editions Pix'n Love.

The fact that it hasb those interviews, proves nothing if anything it furthers the suspicion that Sega paid them off to talk positive
