There is a term in Spanish I like, Estadounidense. The United States in Spanish is Los Estados Unidos (sounds more like an actual country name), and the proper term for someone from the United States is Estadounidense. I really don't support anything being done by any nation on this earth. Only when there is no more racism, no more "us vs. them", no more war... will I ever want to be labeled as being from any nation. Then get ready to remain like that forever.

I am happy to live in England but I feel that as one has no choice over where they live, it is hard to be truly proud of it. I like our gun laws and I live in comfort so there's that but I don't feel a deep rooted connection to my country.

Since I live in glorious SERBIA, many of us would be willing to trade positions with any one westerner in a heart-beat, but you have some nice commodities here that I like using. For example, nobody here shuns piracy, not even the officials, and always being in troubled times, connections of like-minded people are always close and blooming, and we have a very nice climate with beautiful landscapes and parks. I grew up here and all my friends are here and I can't bear to leave.
Am I proud though? Well, I can't pick and I have no other options available, but Slavs are generally known to be a very neckstrong kind of people and we do dumb things all the time. Our figures though are very ambitious and genius people(like Tesla), make great music and movies, and have a thriving and very charming nationalistic pop culture I wouldn't trade for the world. We have many romantic European values and a proud sense of European belonging, but like Brits though, we're masters at self-depreciating and satirical humour.

Just a big problem with that: THE UNITED STATES IS NOT OFFICIALLY A SPANISH SPEAKING COUNTRY. Officially it's an English speaking country. To give the citizens of an English speaking country a Spanish term is nonsensical. 1. The U.S. has no official language. 2. The U.S. has the second highest Spanish speaking population in the world. (First is Mexico, unsurprisingly).

I thinks it's more of a glass half empty or full type of thing. No culture is 100% perfect. For example, I'm from America (New York to be exact). Sure my country has done many bad things (Killing a culture, slavery, being crazy during the Cold War), it has also done it's fair share of good things (start a worldwide cultural revolution, having tolerance in most places, playing an important part in both world wars). We're not perfect, but we're not the worst place ever.

Sure my country has done many bad things (Killing a culture, slavery, being crazy during the Cold War). You're mildly incorrect about slavery (correct about the other 2, however); as slavery was technically never officially protected under federal law, it was simply a grey area. Shortly before the end of the civil war, it moved from neutrality to outright opposition to slavery. In fact, some states outlawed slavery long before Britain (an early adopter of emancipation) did.

Not really. I probably won't ever live anywhere outside of America as I'm fortunate enough to have it pretty good here. But when I think of America's image in the rest of the world and the incompetence and ethnocentrism surrounding us... *shudders*
I know that sounds like a horrible thing for me to say on American Veterans' Day, but it's how I feel. I certainly won't disrespect our military heroes though.

As for myself, I'm obviously a patriot. Specifically, for these reasons:
I don't think my country is perfect, no. In fact, if I were to build my own country, I'd have a fairly different plan for how to run things (in fact, I should write about what my own nation's constitution would be). My 2 big problems with my nation at this point are its former treatment of Native Americans (to be fair, that was a long time ago), and its current federally run entitlement programs. If not for those 2 things, then America would likely be the capstone of human civilization. Even with them, it still sets a groundbreaking precedent for other nations to follow.
Also, we got to the moon first.

Aye, it's Dutch. It started with Big Brother, which was thought up by this dipshit. He's also responsible for programs like the Voice of Buttville, so you know who to blame for the current state of television. A dipshit who REALLY didn't get the meaning of 1984.
