My reaction to playing SOTN. Seriously This game is the shit. Though it is kinda difficult to know what you're suppose to do without checking a walkthrough.

Isn't SOTH the easiest Castelvania game ever and everyone knows it?

Isn't SOTH the easiest Castelvania game ever and everyone knows it? That depends. You start strong, but then Death takes your weapons and nerfs you so that you have a bit of a harder time, but Gaibon and Slogra were still (sadly) easy. And other bosses too. But it gets easier killing things when you got better weapons and powers. The real challenge was to figure out how to get to certain places for the first time. And that's from my own experience of the game. I consider SotN one of the best together with AoS, DoS, Super Castlevania IV, PoR and CoD (though I haven't beaten it yet).

Well, personally I kinda like it. It seems like a perfect way to introduce the RPG mechanics (which were completely new to series at that time) to the player. On top of that, it sets up Death's character pretty well (too bad they did so little with it afterwards), and makes it all the more satisfying when you finally kill him.

Yeah, Death may have been easy in this game. But it was as you said, satisfying to kill him. And for your knowledge so wasn't I complaining about him taking your stuff and agree that it was a good (or perfect) way to introduce people to the RPG mechanics. Heck, it would probably have been boring to go through the castle already all powerful. Though I did play two of the Gameboy Advance games and the first two DS games before Symphony, so I can't say that I have the same experience as those who played SoN as their first Metroidvania.

Most of Symphony was way too easy. As others before me have said, the game was insultingly easy. Way too many weapons in the game are severely overpowered, and that's pretty much the failing point of the game. Not to say Symphony failed, just that's what drags it down.

Aye, the balance was completely out of whack. You gotta give 'em credit though; They tried something completely different by adding RPG and Metroid-y exploration, that a lot more than you can say for some other companies.
It was just too bad they didn't put a lot of testing into it.

I can easily say that my favorite Castlevania game was Harmony of Despair. I have never been addicted to a game before or after that one in the same way. I would be at school practicing motions on my controller just to make sure I did it with perfect execution in the game. I would grind the moment I got home to the moment I went to bed for a new item or to max a new spell. And god did I enjoy every moment of it. Nocturne in the Moonlight is a close second though.

I have to pick the Cliche pick and say SOTN is my favorite.

Yeppy, I hate the time limited ones though.
SotN I know how to get bonus damage from the Ice brand and Thunder Brand, they both do effect damage just like the Fire Brand, just not as easily. (Ice Brand, be very close, fist range or less / Thunder Brand, stand a little bit under enemy so the lightning touches them)
PoR is much harder, but Charlotte gets cool spells and having 2 characters to control is fun.
I consider Simon's Quest the originator of this style Cav. game. Though sad it doesn't feature the Axe special weapon.
I also like some monsters, particularly fond of Venus Weed / Alura Une. Persephone the kung-fu maid is cool too, cool spin kick (seems crescent / hook kick) and palm thrust moves.
