Yesterday, I watched a new film and a old one. The new film was Frozen. That film was mind blow material, plain and simple. Seriously, that was the second-best film of this year, after Pacific Rim. 9.5/10. The old film was Close Encounters of the Third Kind. That film... was not as much as a mind blow as Frozen. It was certainly a decent movie, but I don't think it has aged well. Of course, this could just be me not being old enough to understand it that much, and being tired as all fuck. Will have to rewatch when I am slightly older and not tired as all fuck. 6.5/10 for now.

Chanbara Beauty
My friends and myself watch bad films with each other and this might just be the worst film I have ever seen. There were points when it was comedically bad but overall just intensely boring and pointless.

Wolf Of Wall Street: This is probably my third favourite Scorsese film (behind Hugo and Goodfellas). The acting was great and this is the best performances I've seen from Jonah Hill and Leonardo Dicaprio. This Movie kept me entertained from start to finish. There's not any flaws I can think of. Sure the movie is 3 hours long, but it didn't feel like it and I there were no scene that made me think "that shouldn't be in the movie". 10/10

Frankie Boyle: The Last Days of Sodom
Horrifically harsh and offensive humour. I still laughed through most of it

Super Size Me
I dig documentaries of this sort and whilst I am late to the party on this one, it remains to be eye opening and smart.

Bad Grandpa: Hilarious. One thing I loved is that it was filmed with hidden cameras, so most of the peoples aren't even actors. This Movie is jackass with a plot and if you like jackass humour, you'll probably enjoy this Movie, I myself aren't a huge fan of jackass, but I enjoyed this film 8/10

The Hobbit Desolation Of Smaug: Its much better than the last film. It has alot more going on that kept me interested mainly in the action scenes. While the film still is kinda lacking in character especially with the pointless romance between Evangelie Lily and one of the dwarves, What really makes up for it is Smaug brilliantly played by Benedict Cumberbatch who looks amazing and a bit freightning too. Its an overall better film than the last Hobbit movie that does an OK job preparing us for this trilogy's likely conclusion but I definitely recommend seeing this film in theaters just to see Smaug on the big screen. Rating: B-
Saving Mr Banks: Absolutely fantastic, It's a film that both interesting in how we see how tough the production of making the Mary Poppins was and also emotional in the many flashback scenes. It's a much more of an adult film in the writing than those Disney films and is a lot better for it with many great performances particularly by Tom Hanks, Emma Thompson and Collin Farrell. It's overall one of my favorite films of this year. Rating: A+
Anchorman The Legend Continues: (Sigh) This was very disappointing to me since I liked the first film and I kinda went in with low expectations but I just didn't get much enjoyment out of this. My main problem with the film is that I found the jokes in this film to be kinda lackluster due to some being unfunny, some being repeats of the original, but some that I would've found funny if I wasn't still thinking about the jokes that annoyed me or made me cringe like the racist gags with Meagan Good or Ron Burgundy's interactions with his family or almost everything with James Marsdon's character. With all that in mind, The film for me just felt underwritten, unfunny, and at times unpleasant. Some liked it more than me but I just simply didn't walk out of this satisfied. Rating: D
The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty: It's pretty good despite not living up to its full potential. It's a pretty interesting story as an ordinary man who daydreams alot decides to go on an adventure for the sake of his job. Ben Stiller does a decent job directing as he does acting in it as the title since the cinematography is great and the rest the actors do OK performances with the exception being Patton Oswalt who's pretty funny as the customer service guy Walter chats on the phone throughout the film. The main problem the film kinda suffers from is that it's a bit underwritten since there's isn't a whole lot of character depth and the comedy isn't played up as much as the spectacle. Despite that, I think that this film would have an audience with an older audience like my Dad. However if you see it yourself, You may notice it's shortcomings but I doubt you'll walk out hating it. Rating: C+
Her: Brilliant, Just Brilliant. It's another good film by Spike Jonze about a man loving his computer and despite that odd premise, It touches on alot of things about Love and Having A Relationship in a very intelligent way that you expect from Jonze. With this, Im looking forward to seeing some of this guy previous film's like Adaptation and Being John Malkovich. As for this film, I highly recommend you see if you have the chance Rating: A

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug: Although I didn't see the first installment and don't ever plan to, I was pleasantly surprised with this movie and how I was able to understand quite a bit despite not having seen the first one. The characters and setting were all fantastic (a little less for Gandalf, though. Am I the only one who noticed how he'd always emphasize the last word he said, making it more dramatic than needed be?) Also, Smaug is pretty cool.
7.5/10
Grave Encounters: I absolutely love found footage films, even though I admit most of them... aren't all that great, and almost always leave me wanting to know more (it's not a good feeling). This one had a super cool setting and all, and I really did enjoy it. Generally. This has been said so many times for horror movies, and I'll say it again: they made a hell of a lot of illogical decisions, like letting their camera man go wandering around alone when they knew and were convinced that there were threatening ghosts roaming the building. There are a lot more instances that made no sense, the ending being one of them, but despite my many complaints I still liked it, if only for the vibe it gives off.
6/10
Would You Rather: Can you tell I'm on a horror movie streak? And this one has one of my all-time favorite kinds of plot: a death game! It's about a woman named Iris who's brother is dying of Leukemia and, having no way of treating him, takes up the offer of a stranger to attend a dinner party that'll host a "game", and the one who wins will get all their problems taken care of. I'll probably sound like a lunatic after I say this, but I absolutely loved this movie! It's a little slow at the start, but the pace after the dinner party starts is perfect. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The movie wasn't gory at all, but despite this, the characters' deaths still made me cringe, a lot. Especially one in particular where I had to close my eyes (which is very rare for me since I'm not easily affected by these kind of things). From reviews that I've read, a lot of people didn't like the ending since it was predictable, and although I will agree with it's predictability, I felt like the ending fit perfectly with the story that was being told. Predictable doesn't mean bad, after all. I'd definitely recommend this movie, though on the contrary I'd like to warn the squeamish to stay away.

Indie Game: The Movie
Very solid documentary I must admit. I had heard that the Fez bloke came of as an arsehole as did Jonathan Blow but I really liked the way that Blow spoke and as for Fez... He was nice but seemed volatile. The meltdown was to be expected. V. good nonetheless, would watch again.
8/10
Norwegian Wood
Didn't have time to expand characters as they deserve to be so plot felt very thin and the film was boring (the book was slow but never bored me). Shot nicely with decent music and an admittedly superb final 15 minutes does not excuse the squandered potential.

Underworld: My first underworld movie was awakening and that Movie sucked. This movie is not that bad, but it was long, I Think it could be 30 minutes shorter. 6.5/10

Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance
Well paced revenge film, unnecessarily confusing at points but it all comes together very well. Cinematography is to die for.

Inside Llewyn Davis
Really nice film that manages to make something which has no right to be interesting into a compeling narrative. Soundtrack is god tier and the performances from both Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan are great
