I wonder what charcters are going to be shown in this game..i can't wait for the redesign of Metal Sonic.. Assuming Metal Sonic is in the game. I think Shadow was already confirmed, though. Though you all should know who I want to see in the game the most.

I am... Cautiously optimistic at this point. I got my hopes up for Sonic Lost World and it just turned out to be meh. I've felt that the series has been in need of a reboot for a while now, and I don't care what anyone else says, it may be just a spin off right now but if this does well then it WILL become the main line series

What makes you think Sonic Boom will become the main line series when all other Sonic spinoffs have not?

In terms of gameplay no..but Shadow is part of the canon so i consider it part of the main series..

What makes you think Sonic Boom will become the main line series when all other Sonic spinoffs have not? It would be pretty sad if the All Stars games became the main series. Also what counts as the "main series" is kind of debatable (I'd argue that Shadow the Hedgehog is part of the main series since it follows on from Adventure 2 and Heroes and Shadow remains a major character in '06). To throw my thoughts into the mix though... this won't become the main series. Sega have stated that it won't and they aren't daring enough with their cash cow franchise to go back on that. Not to mention that it's being made by a developer outside of Sega or that it's tying into a TV series which apparently will "reset" every episode. None of this sounds to me like it'll stick. Also despite how good this game looks and how excited I am for it, it will probably be hampered by the fact that it's Nintendo exclusive. Though that said maybe this will shift some WiiUs for Nintendo. I doubt it but it could.

Fun fact guys: Japan really doesn't care for Sonic. It's really only the Western regions where he actually does well. So what would be the most logical thing to do for SEGA in order to get the most out of their mascot? Give development to a western developer and see how well it does. If this new iteration of Sonic does substantially better than the last few games, then SEGA will consider more games in this universe over the main universe. Besides, SEGA even stated this game was a total reboot of the franchise before they quickly back peddled and called it a spinoff. They only did that as a safety net, so that if Sonic Boom DOESNT do well they can still go back to the main line universe.
Personally, I'm hoping this DOES replace the mainline for one major reason: Amy looks to finally be getting treated with some fucking respect from both a character and gameplay perspective.

Personally I'd like it if ANY of the characters other than Sonic got any respect but that's why I prefer the alternate universes in the first place.
Also a surprising amount of Sonic games already exist that have been developed by Western developers. Sonic 3D, Sonic R, Sonic Rivals and Rivals 2, Sonic Chronicles, 3 of the 4 Sega Superstars games. Hell if you count the American Sega Technical Institute then Sonic 2, 3 and Sonic and Knuckles all count as Western developed titles.
I'm not saying I wouldn't want this to become the main series (despite the fact that, as I mentioned before, it's already been stated that the cartoon will be very light on continuity), I just have serious doubts that it will stick. Sega were sure to state that this was a spin-off for a reason after all.

I've always liked Amy as a character. I'm more glad that Knuckles is getting a major role. I love Sonic Generations and Lost World to death, but he had absolutely no point in either of those games(though to be fair, everyone was pointless in Generations).

Agreed I kind of do like Amy at least she's getting the respect she desrves now all I'm hoping for is Sega to use their heads and try to work with Atlus on a new Sonic RPG because we haven't had another RPG since Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood and that was pretty decent plus I would love to see another Sonic game with a dark storyline on the epic scale of the Adventure games, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood.

I liked the idea behind Dark Brotherhood, but I didn't really like the game itself. It wasn't bad, absolutely not, but I expected something different from it.
I'm not expecting a sequel to it anytime soon though, despite the ending of the original. You know, some cases with Ken Penders from the Archie Comics which have a lawsuit going on bla bla bla.. Penders also blamed them because the story of Dark Brotherhood looked pretty familiar to what happened in the comics.
