It's apparently been confirmed in interviews that this will not be replacing Modern Sonic.
So how about everyone stops whining over this.

So how about everyone stops whining over this. Sorry mate but A: We already knew that. It's been bought up at least twice. B: No one here is really whining about it. This is the most drastic redesign of these well known characters in almost 15 years and it will be the first animated Sonic series since X which was almost 10 years ago. Everyone is going to have differing opinions on it. It warrants some discussion. C: If you're referring more to the Sonic fanbase, then to be frank what do you expect? |

So how about everyone stops whining over this. I think I know why everyone thinks it is a replacement. So far between the 2 trailers, 4 out of the 5 main characters' voices are confirmed to be exactly the same, and 3 of the 5 characters seem to have the same exact personality. |

Yeah, I was refering more to the fanbase, but re-reading my comment made me realize that it wasn't very clear. And reading yours made me realize that it indeed was pretty freaking pointless. |

So turns out the game will be heavily inspired by Sonic 2, Adventure, and Generations. The characters will also receive new abilities that can be upgraded as the game goes on. That, and there will definitely be other Sonic characters in the game that will be revealed over the upcoming months.
I can't wait. I can't fucking wait.

I like most of the redesigns for the most part, although Knuckles just looks freaking weird. Also, there's something a little off about Sonic now having blue arms, but I can look past that. Tails is now an engie and Amy is now a ninja!  Let's just hope that they won't crash and burn in a disappointing style like in 2006. |

It's just something we need to get used to. Which I already have. Whether the games since have been bad or good, they haven't come close to screwing up that badly. To be honest I'm actually really excited to see how this game turns out. It's promising a lot of things that I want to see in a Sonic game, it is taking place in a different universe separate from the main games (which as a fan of SatAM and the Fleetway comics is something I'm interested in seeing). Oh and it has former employees from Naughty Dog working on it. Also something interesting I just learned about the game. Apparently the lead level designer on the WiiU version is Chris Senn. Best known as the man behind Sonic Xtreme. If this game fails, I'll be amazed. If it fails on the level of Sonic '06, I'll eat my shoe. |

Keep in mind why Sonic 2006 was a bad game in the first place. The game was rushed in a desperate attempt to please fans, and Sonic Team was basically cut in half, where the other half was working on Secret Rings. Sonic Team isn't even working on Sonic Boom, and they never gave any indication that they would decrease the production time to release the game sooner. I see no reason to be worried.

Right i am optimistic that this game will be good but also i am not convinced at the same time..i need to see more gameplay to make a full judgement |

I never get nervous about new Sonic games. You know why? Because Sonic has almost always done right by me, and I will never give up hope for Sonic. He's never disappointed me in any major way (Except one game, but that was only one time) and he'll keep me along in his adventures for a long time.
