Oh man it's depressing but SO GOOD!!!. I really like how no episode in the 12 episodes is filler and each contribut to the story/characters in some way. The Action scenes are just awesome looking and i do like most characters..expect Kyubey..she's a jerk. While it is a short series it is very much worth your time to watch this series and you can usually find it online so if you don't want to pay anything to watch it i suggest you watch it there. My only major problem is the ending i don't mean the Original Anime's ending i mean the 3rd Movie's ending witch threw a wrench at the whole meaning behind the ending..ah well i can complain more about that another day. Still this excellent Anime Series should be watched..unless your under the age of 13 then it will depress you..a lot.

I'm over 13 and I cried both while watching the series and when I went to the movies. Insanely good show.

I became incredibly depressed after this anime. I had to watch Persona 4 just to control it.

I became incredibly depressed after this anime. I had to watch Persona 4 just to control it. I do think it's depressing but at the same time it reminds me a lot of The Hunger Games...it's depressing but got a happyish ending ( If you don't know what i am talking about watch the 3rd Madoka Magica Movie)

One of my favorite anime actually, all five magical girls piqued my interest and the story had a lot of good psychological themes and messages about decision making and pressure that I felt added to it's appeal. I also really liked the music and art style which added a very unique atmosphere to the series.
Well all that "deep" stuff aside, yeah it was depressing and pretty dark as well (it really held no qualms about rough plot twists) and the third movie was quite a nice conclusion (I'm just hoping they don't go along with making the rumored second season).

I really enjoyed Mahou Shoujo Puella Magi Madoka Magica because of how well they managed to make each character diverse. The different personalities they had and hardships each of them had to endure really put in good character development. I really loved Mami especially though, her wish for living and mentor-like attitude really hit me for some reason. Maybe it's because all her life she's been alone, but still.

I do think Madoka is a bit week when compared with the rest of the girls though.

Madoka Magica is honestly my second favorite anime, and one of my favorite shows of...ever. In fact, all three Blu-Ray volumes are my Christmas present today. :DExcept they haven't arrived in the mail yet. Imma avoid this thread for now though, as I see people talking about the third movie, which I haven't seen yet.

I do think Madoka is a bit week when compared with the rest of the girls though. The bond between Kyouko and Sayaka are my favorite to be honest. Sayaka puts on this whole entire warrior of justice facade and Kyouko can really see through it. She's been a magical girl longer than Sayaka and she understands the principalities of it. She wasn't even against Sayaka helping other people, she just said that she needed to take a break and do things for herself. Sayaka didn't listen but at the end she said she was sorry anyways. I'm glad that Kyouko also tried her best to save Sayaka, because she really knew Sayaka was trying her best and was a real shame she ended up dying. Concerning Madoka though, I believe that being weak was one of the things that really made her stand out. Mami told her to be careful when making the decision of becoming one of them. Her indecisive attitude pulled her down in despair for a while because she always thought she was just normal and had no redeeming qualities, other than her imagination. I feel that's what really makes her what she is.

Also Tyrannogamer we are not going to talk about the 3rd MM movie but i will admit i am not happy at the ending..Here is a pretty good fan-fiction called Sayaka's Bizzare Adventure and it takes place during the late 1800s in Amercia. www.fanfiction.net/s/9659132/1/Sayaka-s-Bizarre-Adventure

Madoka is a re-imagining of the Greek tragedy set in the present day and I love it. It told so much in 12 episodes not a lot of anime manage to in the same time frame.
The third movie, is... it's gonna be divisive. Though I like the fanservice elements and the budget boom, it wasn't written by Shinbo who himself concluded the series in episode 12 in such a way you can't write yourself out of it. Rebellion handles that pretty well considering the circumstances, but it leads only to an open ending that can be expanded with a season 2. That shit ain't canon to me yo.
