Sorry, I meant to say twice before. In both Super and Prime 3(and those games aren't very far apart from each other, so what happened in Other M is still highly plausible). -If he were dead, how would he have been rebuilt into Meta Ridley? -He survived, then was corrupted by Phazon to become Omega Ridley. -He didn't. That was what I was talking about.
I suggest you read this.

Which is BS,there is no way he survived Prime 3. And even if had because... I don't know fairies or some crap, how is Samus supposed to know that? Did she read the wiki, too? Does she reads Ridley's tweets?

One major hole in Thunderhog's defense is that the Metroid Prime games aren't considered canon. Therefore, Ridley had to have died during Super Metroid. Whether or not he died during Metroid is up for debate though. I suppose he could have survived since Kraid and Mother Brain both survived and unlike Ridley, they've never been brought back post Super Metroid.
It's poorly written either way though.

If Sammy's Other M characterization happened in the beginning of the Metroid timeline, Samus's weak character would've not only be justified, but completely welcome. Then there'd be nothing left but for her to make a progression from a weak to a strong character. I haven't played Other M so I can barely grasp why people complain about Samus' character, but you know, it's a miracle the poor girl is handling well considering Ridley killed her parents and Zebes was decimated after Super Metroid.

^ Yeah, that's quite a history Samus has lived through. Which is how I said, let Samus FIRST be an emo, THEN turn her into a quintessential badass. The way these games are placed is just... plain awkward.
Sammy getting PTSD after Super Metroid I can buy(since, well, a lot of shit happened to her, let's be honest), but the problem is that she's been through heavier shit ten times before Super Metroid(and fought Ridley ten times!) which obviously leads us to the conclusion she's a strong-willed heroine by Other M.
If I were to reboot the Metroid series, I'd make it something like:
1. Samus' parents are killed, is raised on Zebes, becomes an inexperienced bounty hunter. 2. Mash Metroids 1, 2 and Super into just a single game, it is her first real combat mission. Make it a traumatic experience for her sort of what like the Tomb Raider reboot was. Zebes explodes. 3. Other M is next in the series, Samus has Vietnam war flashbacks and Ridley is back, zomg. At the end of the game she finds courage and leaves her past behind, grows up as a character. 4. Other games follow, in which Samus is a stone-faced badass and goes on many new adventures.
But feel free to shoot me down, I mean, I haven't played a single Metroid game outside of Super Metroid so I don't know shit about the series.

But feel free to shoot me down,... Everthing seems fine so far. I mean, I haven't played a single Metroid game outside of Super Metroid so I don't know shit about the series. WHAT?You haven't played the Metroid Prime games? Go and buy them, right now!

That would fix everything that is wrong with franchise, and it would be a lot cheaper than remaking those games. But feel free to shoot me down,... Everthing seems fine so far. I mean, I haven't played a single Metroid game outside of Super Metroid so I don't know shit about the series. WHAT?You haven't played the Metroid Prime games? Go and buy them, right now! I second this motion. Having a Wii and not having the Metroid Prime Trilogy should be criminal offense under international law.
