Seriously? Sanic: Lost World is WORSE than Ride To Hell? That's bloody bullcrap and the trolls who haven't played the game and are just hating it for being a "Super Mario Galaxy Ripoff" don't know a bloody thing about Sanic and deserve to die if they think this game (which is actually not bad) is WORSE than the game that actual people call THE 2ND WORST GAME EVER. (Btw, if you are wondering, Ride To Hell is the 2nd lowest-rated PC game on Metacritic, losing to Big Rigs.) (And yes, THAT Big Rigs.) It's the awards for Wii U games. Ride to Hell is PC Exclusive. I still plan on getting this day as soon a I have a Wii U. I like the idea of a Sonic game that slows down and focuses on being a platformer. The 3DS Demo controlled alright and that was Dimps shit (Though supposedly the level design on that gets derpier over time.) It's a love it or hate it thing I guess, then again all 3D Sonic games are. Pardon?

I don't really see how they're any different from the 2D games though. Well, firstly, they have a totally different approach to level design. Also the whole Z-axis thing. And the physics are different. And they generally shoehorn in a gimmick. And the (usually) terrible camera + iffy controls. Basically the only thing they have in common with the 2D titles design-wise is that both of them focus on getting to the end of a level but every other platformer does that too.

I have a bit of a short look on the 3DS version I decided to share with you guys.. Though it's not very positive. (3DS version by the way)
Really, except for the music, I do not have any positive commentary on this game. The only thing I would point out is that Sonic Team clearly has put a lot of time into this game, and I can see that. But really, for every good thing a bad thing beats it. The stages were good adjusted to Sonic his new mechanics, but they took extremely long and they didn't really have original themes going for them. The mechanics were new but I hated them. ESPECIALLY the gyroscope functions. Please, whenever I'm playing on the 3DS, I'm lying on my bed. I don't want to stand up and move the 3DS in all directions just to make Sonic move. That's just plain awful. The bosses were.. original too I guess, but they all sucked except for Zamok (the Red one) and I guess Eggman, though it has some elements of the Nega Wisp Armour and it has a one-hit k.o move. Somewhere at the end of the fight. That... no, I'm not gonna talk about it.
The music is really outstanding though, as mentioned before. They have done a great job on this again.
However, it saddens me to say that I won't touch the game anytime soon again, because I really didn't like it. And it has so much bonus content, it hurts me. Chaos emeralds (Worst special stages ever though), Red Rings, Hard modes of every stage, you name it and it's here. Probably I will take them on once I got those negative feelings about the game out of my head, but until then... no, I won't.
On that note... I had more fun with Sonic '06.

So now that I've finally beat the game and got all the Chaos Emeralds (no extra boss battle or secret ending, just Super Sonic in the levels...yay?) and have really stopped to think about it, I have to say, man I want to love this game. The level design is great (admittedly with a couple of exceptions), it's classic platformer style is a nice change and the cutscenes and dialogue are actually really enjoyable. It's just while I really enjoyed the game, there were just too many things that bugged me for it to measure up to Colours and Generations.
For a start, as has been made abundantly clear by now, the controls are not friendly to newcomers. This isn't usually that bad a thing but with a pick-up-and-play platformer like Sonic, it's a big no-no. I got used to the controls and really enjoyed them but not everyone is going to have that sort of patience.
Next the colour powers. Great idea to bring these back but with the exception of the drill and the asteroid (the latter of which pretty much never appears after the first world), none of them felt necessary and I found the game more fun when I ignored them and jumped and wall ran through the level. Not helped by the fact that they are clearly intended as the easy route in a lot of levels.
Then there's the bosses...hoo boy. They are WAY too short and easy. You can take a lot of the bosses out in mere minutes. While some are kind of fun (the last fight with Zavok deserving special mention) they provide pretty much zero challenge which, from a game I found to be harder than previous Sonic games, is just jarring.
However the thing that bugged me most of all is that there's no way to rewatch any of the cutscenes in the WiiU version (at least that I found). What. The. Hell! You actually make a Sonic game where I want to rewatch the cutscenes since they are actually really entertaining, and then don't even give me the option?! Just...WHAT!?
*sigh* It was a lot of fun though. I just don't see me playing it again any time soon

Honestly Sonic Lost World is i hate using this term but it's not where Sonic should be going in terms of gameplay if you made a Sonic game like Generations but with new stages..no one would have bitched

I just realised that in my rant I forgot to mention that the soundtrack is amazing...but that's pretty much a given by now.

Yeah, whatever happens, Sonic will always have an amazing soundtrack. Though, I still hope Crush 40 make a return anytime soon :3

I don't really see how they're any different from the 2D games though. Well, firstly, they have a totally different approach to level design(1). Also the whole Z-axis thing. And the physics are different. And they generally shoehorn in a gimmick(2). And the (usually) terrible camera + iffy controls(3). Basically the only thing they have in common with the 2D titles design-wise is that both of them focus on getting to the end of a level but every other platformer does that too. 1. Can't argue with that. But that's only because the level design of your average 3D Sonic game is technically superior to you average 2D Sonic game. They're both about going fast, but the former actually focuses on skill while the latter is just mindless. 2. Not really. Unleashed is the only main series Sonic game with a gimmick. Shadow and the storybook games don't count because they're spinoffs. They're supposed to be different from the main series. 3. Eh. Never really bothered me. You can argue that the 2D games have bad controls as well. You go so fast that you can't see where you're going.

Can I just say 1 thing that annoys me? The F**k is the Lost Hex? I. Mean. SERIOUSLY!? THEY WERE LITELALY JUST FLYING THROUGH THE AIR FIGHTING EGGMAN THEN THEY JUST SEE A GIANT INCOMPLETE BALL OF HEXAGONS AND SAY *Arin Hanson silly voice* "OH HEY LOOK! ITS THE LOST HEX!" AND THEN THEY JUST LAND THERE AND DON'T EVEN EXPLAIN WHAT THE F**K IT IS! It annoys the f*** out of me...
