If you're playing the WiiU version, I HIGHLY recommend you play it on your Gamepad. This game has much better controls on a handheld.

And what's this with the SAGY? I have played the demo of the game and from that I can tell that it does certainly NOT deserve to be a nomination on that list. Seriously? Sanic: Lost World is WORSE than Ride To Hell? That's bloody bullcrap and the trolls who haven't played the game and are just hating it for being a "Super Mario Galaxy Ripoff" don't know a bloody thing about Sanic and deserve to die if they think this game (which is actually not bad) is WORSE than the game that actual people call THE 2ND WORST GAME EVER. (Btw, if you are wondering, Ride To Hell is the 2nd lowest-rated PC game on Metacritic, losing to Big Rigs.) (And yes, THAT Big Rigs.) 1. If I remember correctly, it was nominated for the Wii U category. And considering how the Wii U had nothing this year, I'd say it earned its spot. 2. Also, lol @ "deserve to die". It's fucking So nic the Hedgehog, dude. 3. Of course it's that Big Rigs. What other Big Rigs title is there? 4. No one actually thinks that Lost World is worse than Ride to Hell.

It was nominated for worst game as well, and Sanic had gotten more votes than Ride To Hell, and yes, I do feel like I kinda went overboard on the "deserve to die" bit.

I can see the similarities between SMG and Lost World, but that doesn't mean it's bad for reason. Several people won't even give it a chance despite it being a stand alone title and something innovative. That often happens with so called 'ripoffs'. Now, I have a lot of games that turned out to be better than the original. I absolutely love Tales of Vesperia, it is a great game. Many games take examples from the Tales of Franchise, and the series that did it best is, in my opinion, Star Ocean. I consider SO: The last Hope to be a better game than Tales of Vesperia, despite it having very much similarities. I have not played Ride to Hell though, so I can not give my opinion on that. But SLW is catagorized in the worst wii u game, while Ride to Hell, as you said, is a PC game. And besides, Metacritic? The critic reviews score there is the most accurate, as people love to make troll accounts giving games 0 out of 10 (just look at the GTA V review). By the way, you were a bit blunt to say people deserve to die. Sure, I do agree with you that people who know nothing about the franchise should not get their hands on reviewing or giving opinions about the game/franchise, that is totally unfair. But dying? Nah, they'll meet themselves anytime, don't worry about that.

Don't get me started on the CoD games and DmC. Oh but those are far from the only games. And I don't even understand why exactly DmC get such bad ratings. Sure, it threw the DmC formula out of the window (basically a reboot) but apart from that, the gameplay was amazing.

The gameplay was a blast, but people still hated it because of what they did with the characters. Okay, I think I need to explain something: GAMEPLAY makes a game, not characters or story. This is something that most people forget about nowadays because of the rise of the story in games.

I still plan on getting this day as soon a I have a Wii U. I like the idea of a Sonic game that slows down and focuses on being a platformer. The 3DS Demo controlled alright and that was Dimps shit (Though supposedly the level design on that gets derpier over time.) It's a love it or hate it thing I guess, then again all 3D Sonic games are.

I'm really on the fence about buying this. I've heard plenty of horror stories of finicky controls (especially in the flying segments) clashing with the level design (for example, how the parkour system causes problems in the 2D segments). But with all the fans this game has (and the fact that when I was listening to AntDude's review, my immediate reaction to some of his complaints was "Wonderful 101 did that), I'm thinking about trying it myself. But then there's the money issue... I'm not sure how I should go about this.

Now that I've played DKCR, I can compare the flying segments to the rocket barrel segments. The only difference being there are significantly less flying segments(and you don't die in ONE HIT).

Finally got around to playing this. I've played through most of the game in two sittings (not counting the time I spent playing the demo) and never before have my impressions of a game swung from one side to the other so drastically.
My first impressions of the demo were really good. I liked the level design and the slower pace. I liked how the level could be approached in a number of ways and it promoted exploration. I was excited to play the rest.
Then I actually got the game...and God was it frustrating. It felt like I was battling the controls half the time which was causing me to die more than I should. Plummeting off the stage for the umpteenth time was starting to grate on my nerves and a couple of the levels just felt too gimmicky to be fun. Also I hate that damn, super guide shit warp item that pops up when you die too many times. Yes I know I shouldn't be that annoyed since it can easily be avoided...well except for one particularly rage worthy point in the ice world where you outright can't avoid it.
I was ready to come on here and admit that I could not enjoy Lost World...and then I picked it up again. That's went I realised why I hadn't really been able to get into the game.
I think the problem with Lost World in terms of it being a Sonic game is that it actually requires a lot of patience. You really do need to practice the controls particularly when it comes to the parkour system. It isn't that fluid as it could be and one slip can and will kill you. This results in a lot of "this shouldn't be this hard!" moments. Once you get the hang of it though it can be a lot of fun.
Speaking of practice though, Lost World's gameplay requires a surprising amount of trial and error. Some of the extra lives or red rings take quite a bit of thought and precision to get to. If you can get past this though then finding and grabbing them becomes very satisfying.
To sum up, I get why people would hate this game as it has some issues that make getting the maximum enjoyment out of it frustrating. However if you can get around these issues and get into the right mindset then there is a lot of fun to be had.
I want to beat the game and play through it a second time before I come to a final opinion on it but, despite the game's flaws, I am enjoying it at the moment.
Also maybe I just suck but some of the later levels are HARD!
Edit: This turned into a much longer post than I intended. Sorry about that.

I don't have a problem with people disliking Lost World(I would say it leaves the worst first impression in the series next to Secret Rings), but I draw the line when people say it's a bad game on a technical scale solely for being challenging.
