Haven't seen Korra yet, planning to though. Anyways, i am slowly re-watching this show and this might be some over-thinking on my part, but here me out. In the swamp episode (Season 2), Aang sees a vision of his Earth-Bending Teacher, Toph, since he's the Avatar, however, what the swamp is supposed to do is show those who pass through their deceased loved ones, but since Aang is the Avatar, he gets a vision into the future instead. What kinda hit me was that if Aang is seeing the future, and the swamp shows deceased loved ones, what if the swamp was telling Aang that he will love this person, but she'll die? The writers chose not to go that path, but still, could've been intresting to see. Edit: I didn't mean that Toph have a realtionship with Aang, but you know, he'll love Toph as a friend
