Any thoughts on how this series is doing?

I'd say so far it's decent at best. I can understand the whole short episodes thing (Red vs. Blue actually used a similar format in it's early days) and for an non-professional project in it's early days it's done well. Though one major issue with this series is that I feel like it's gotten away with too many mistakes that if it were a professional work it could never get away with. The animation during action scenes is great but during other scenes the movements are very basic, and the lip movements tend to go off-sync with what the characters are saying (more noticable in the early episodes), the voice acting is very hit or miss as I notice at times the voice actors tend to put more emotion into some lines than others, though it's passable for amateur VAs. My main issue however is that the sense of progression in this show isn't that great. The first episode hypes up what could be an awesome action series with a cool plot but it takes a few good episodes for the plot to really progress, and after the awesome fight scene at episode 8 the following two episodes felt more like something in a slice of life. I also felt like for a good deal of the episodes the only characters who got really any focus were Ruby and Weiss, and the others either had a few memorable bit parts at best or just were "there" at the worst. Thankfully though the more recent episodes are picking up in plot and are focusing more on the other characters (though Cardin is a dick). I also do have hope for the future especially since Monty is getting help from another animator, and season 1 seems to be more like setting the series in motion and I'm sure things will get more interesting in future seasons.

I really like it so far. (How is it that a somewhat annoying character like Ruby can get away with being her? How? By managing to be funny {"BIRDY, No!!"} AND be aware of her problems.)

I finished watching this weeks episode. Pointless deus ex machina is pointless.

I believe it was showing some hidden strength. Does Monty even know what polarity is? It's magnetism. Magnetism = making someone stronger?

Marathoned the series last night. I quite like it. I hope it improves in the future and has more plot, longer episodes, and improved animation (I agree that the non-action scenes animation is very awkward; it's sorta like it wants to be a 2D anime but is made in 3D, so things get a little weird). Still, it's a fun series. I like most of the characters, with Yang, Ren (or however it's spelled), and Nora probably being the most entertaining of the bunch (Nora in particular can just be hilarious. "WE'LL BREAK HIS LEGS!").
So yeah, I think the weak points will improve over time and this can really become something amazing.

So far, there's only been one question that hasn't been answered.
What noise does a sloth make?

Okay, so I went to RoosterTeeth's website to watch Red vs Blue, and I saw this news that was released last week:
So, RWBY Season 1 is nearing an end. Man, it feels like the first episode was released just last week. Anyway, they promised a big bang finale. I'm not having my expectations to high up, but I bet the finale will still be kick-ass, regardless.
