Hello, I'm a guy who wants to start making countdowns and other various videos. Its just that there are a few questions I have that if you could answer, I'd appreciate it a lot
1. Editing I'm new at editing and the only software I have is Movie Maker and I have tinkered around with it, but I can't seem to get the audio the way I want it. I can't shut up the footages audio so that I can here mine. I also found that the only way to record my voice is to have footage up which leads me to my next point. I know that there is other editing software but I know you have to pay for it which that wont work for me.
2. Getting gameplay footage I am not a rich person and me being a sophomore in high school also doesn't help much either. I can't afford any big devices to get footage from games and stuff. I know other people get heir footage from others but I'm not sure if its as easy as asking for permission or being close friends with said person. Also I want to be careful because of the dumb youtube policy which I think you can bypass by using some kind of fair use thing but I' not sure what it is.
If there's anything else I'm missing, if you could tell me about I would appreciate it. Thank you and have a nice day.

Moved thread to more appropriate location, as it is a question(ish) instead of a product.

Well, for editing, go get Sony Vegas. Yes, it might take a while to actually get used to (Not to mention it's a bit pricey), but it still is a great program for editing.
As for gameplay, if you want a free PC game recorder, go get Unregistered Hypercam 2. However, console footage is tough to get on your own for a cheap price. However, there's something called Youtube Downloader which is a little app for downloading Youtube videos. Also, if you are going to use footage from Youtube videos, credit the uploaders in the credits.
Also, you need to make a script. Either MS Word or Wordpad will work for this, and either of them are most likely preinstalled on your computer.

I'm no countdown professional, i've only made two. However in terms of getting footage. what i use is safefrom.net Basically for YouTube -go to the video url -Then type in "ss" in between the "www." and the "y" in YouTube For Example: www.ssyoutube.com/watchandthenabunchofcharactersn'shit -This should take you to safefrom.net and ask you what format you want from that video -select a format and then wait for the download to finish There are a lot of ways to download video from YouTube. but for me i use this so i don't have download some random shitty extension This method hasn't given me any problems yet and generally getting footage online is really the safest thing but this seems to work fine for me. One other tip i'd recommend is setting deadlines for your videos doing this has certainly helps me out a lot, use a calender or any other kind of organization method doing this I've been able to upload videos more and just a general tip i really recommend. In terms of editing i don't use movie maker so i cant help you out there. but generally do what you thing is cool from other countdown makers you watch, but with your own spin on it. eventually you start to create your own editing style. I'm still working on that now. And one more thing: have fun with it and don't push your self too far. And when you finish you video make sure to post it here. everyone here are great people who can lead you on to making great videos and motivate you a lot. I'm sure me and a lot of other people here would enjoy it. Good Luck Man!
