Alright, we need a thread for this. I'm sure most of you know what the deal is with Dungeon Keeper Mobile. If you don't, here's a review. As it's summed up: "A cynically motivated skeleton of a non-game, a scam that will take your cash and offer nothing in return. A perversion of a respected series, twisted by some of the most soulless, selfish, and nauseating human beings to ever blight the game industry." So yeah, everybody who's played it kinda hates it. But guess what? Some schmuck at EA doesn't see why everybody's complaining, because "Dungeon Keeper is meant to be played on the go multiple times a day with a few minutes here or there" (i.e. "You're just playing it wrong!") and "App Store ratings currently sit at 4 out of 5 stars and Google Play ratings sit at 4.5 out of 5 stars". About the rating thing, apparently when you want to make an in-app purchase, this screen pops up first: The '5 Stars' button gives the game a 5 star rating for you. You'd assume that the '1-4 Stars' button would lead you to another window that lets you pick a specific rating, but no. This it the window it leads to: A feedback window where you can either tell them why their game is shit, or shut up. ... I'm done. I'm fucking done. It's greedy bullshit like this that caused the crash of '83, and if this is the way mobile gaming is going I will fiddle while it burns.

Yeah, mobile gaming is suspectible to such huge ammounts of junk. Scary how it is so comparable to the Atari 2600, but all the symptoms are here. Grossly, consoles and Steam seem to be suspect to it too. The notion of mobile games seemed so fresh and wide and promising the first time and now I wonder if its gonna last. Strange considering just a minute ago all the Angry and Flappy Birds were in fashion.
Our Lord and Saviour, Gabe Newell will save us all!

I was thinking about this game more and now I need to speak about it and my thoughts on it. Simply, this is a disgusting monstrosity and should be banished from gaming for eternity.

Consoles are far less susceptible to it now that Microsoft ditched the Xbox Indies thing. Sony is really strict about what content gets onto their platform as is Nintendo. If the mobile market crashes, I doubt consoles will be dragged down with it. Steam feels sort of susceptible because Greenlight opens the door to things like this but I believe that they don't plan on keeping GL around forever.

Don't forget there's the early access bullshit on Steam nowadays. Creators can rake in the money for their product before it's even finished now, removing their obligation for actually finishing the game.

I feel I should add that, at the time of writing, the two best selling games at GOG.com are Dungeon Keeper 2 and Dungeon Keeper Gold. Apparently Dungeon Keeper Mobile is so shit, it's the perfect advertisement for its predecessors.

So,the only good thing about this game is,that more people now know about the orginal games?
I also love the user review score on metacrtic. Only 1 of them isn't a 0 and that's a fake review.Let me quote: "Ignore the haters. This game is a triumph, a sheer triumph. EA have implemented a simply wonderful micro-transaction system. I have spent $700 so far and it's been the best 2 days of my life."

Yeah I went and got the first 2 games on GOG.com instead of this crap, I've grown a low tolerance to most iPhone games, particularly the ones that force microtransactions at you. Once again, It's the reason I went back to my 3DS since they have more depth in their games, actual buttons, and dont force you throw money at it to progress. I hope to god that we make sure that microtransactions never EVER enters any of the games I that I play on consoles in the future.

Yes a few console games like Dead Space 3 and some of the Xbox One launch titles, but those have kinda backfired since they didn't go unnoticed by the public and caused a drop in game scores in the XboxOne games and weaker sales for Dead Space 3. Also when EA said that microtransactions would be in all of their future games, People were not happy and then EA decided to retract that statement. So we're doing a decent job keeping out microtransactions in most of out game at the moment and I hope we're still resilient against such a thing in the future.

EA. If that wasn't enough to make people distrust a product at this moment, this kind of bullshit will. And I'm confident things won't go to shit for consoles because it does in mobiles, specially with the fairly different target demographics
