Agreed.
My opinions;
Gen. 1
The original, it started it all. Graphics began evolution with the special Yellow version.
Gen. 2
More new pokemon, 2 new types though dark seems just made strong vs. pyshic type as just way to weaken it when there's no relation between darkness and psychic powers nor psychic being good while dark being evil. Hated the real time features. Berries, other held items, and special balls first show up.
Gen. 3
My favorite, most water area more new pokemon many of my favorites, berry growing. Didn't like contests much but would like them less in Gen. 4. Abilities first appear? Pretty easy compared to first 2 games. Finally a female player character model, not all pokemon players are boys.
Gen. 4
More new pokemon, the Poketch that could play with and the underground area. I hated contests and Mt. Coronet ruined this game for me. By this time should have made a gym for dark type as every other type has had one now.
Gen. 5
More new pokemon, no berry growing in game hurt this one for me, first game with a direct sequel. Dream owrld internet feature was a bit lame and unnecessary. Easier than Gen. 5 and can find way to E4 without HMs.
Gen. 6
Pokemon goes 3D, few new pokemon, but yes more. Easy EV training from Super Training, Pokemon Amie fun feature too and with bonus rewards. Customizable player character appearnace. New fairy type, seems forced as a means to weakne dragon type when in truth fairy actually wouldn't work well, fairies being magical and dragons being magically resistant. Still no dark gym, but fairy got one? That killed my interest in fairy type as as much as I dislike dark type it was there first and hadn't had a gym yet devoted to it. So many new features with 3D world. Even some breakable battle background objects. Has best features of other gens. exept no Poketch to play with, I'm happy in game berry growing returned. Fun mini games in Pokemon Amie.
Gen. 7
might be better than Gen. 6 now that they got some great stuff going.
Pokemon is an evolving series. They have hits and misses, but keeps on going.

This was a pretty good rant video.
What's my opinion on the whole thing. Well, I do think the Pokemon games are getting better, at least on a technical standpoint, but that doesn't mean the first gen is really bad. I just find it to be the weakest. And both sides need to stop attacking the other for having differing opinions, it's just idiotic.

Best way to look at it imo, is Gen. 1 laid the foundation for the series... it love it or hate it. Without Gen. 1 there'd be no pokemon series. They didn't get to where they are instantly, they had a progression of games in an evolving series.

Amy, the first game that let you choose your Trainer's gender was Crystal. I guess you never played that game.

Nope, never.
Also I tend to over look the third games. They kind of side versions to me.

*has only played HG and White 2 in terms of spinoff/ 3rd game* FAWNIE WHY?!?!? I would say Crystal, X, and Emerald are the best 3 in the series.

It is a give or take with which Gen 2 version you choose. Gen 4 remakes have the evolutions of late gens.
