Just finished listening to Wrong. Holy fuck that was a fun album. It was right up my alley too. Wrong basically encompasses everything I view as punk. Fast guitar riffs, unrelenting drumming, and short songs. (Well, save for The Tower.) I was a bit worried that it'd begin to sound much of the same as I was listening to Brainless Wonder. Thankfully that wasn't true as that's arguably one of the easiest things to do with an album like Wrong. The different toning of the vocals kept the album fresh, greatly contributing to the overall freshness of the album. The Tower was arguably the weakest song on the album for me as I felt it dragged on a little too much. Otherwise, NoMeansNo was on their A-game and delivered. 9/10 Favourite song was Stocktaking.
1. NoMeansNo - Wrong 2. Twenty Dirt - Homeless and the Van Gobots 3. Ed Askew - Ask the Unicorn 4. The Idea of North - Here & Now 5. Adam Ezra Group - View From the Root

You this album was incredibly rad. They were having so much fun on each and every song and every song had such fabulous pace to it. Even though the songs were longer than I expected them to be (a couple of them around 5 or 6 minutes and the closer came in at 7) but this was a fact I cared little about. THere were catchy and fast repeasting hooks which became pleasantly familiar throughout songs and the vocalist had perfected the punk yowl. Instrument I was most impressed with was the chugging bass though, especially on Stocktaking which had me relistening to it a bit later on. The album did end up dragging a bit due to the longer than average songs but overall it was hard to fault and I shall listen to it again. Best tracks were Stocktaking and The End of All Things
1-Wrong (NoMeansNo) 2-Big TV (White Lies) 3-The View from the Root (Adam Ezra Group) 4-Ask the Unicorn (Ed Askew) 5-Here and Now (The Idea of North)

ok so I don't have a really elaborate opinion on Fordlandia other than that it's all very pretty, but lacks something that truly distinguishes itself from other pretty albums like Agaetis Byrjún and such. It could also lose some metaphorical pounds (meaning that it's too long). Still a neat album though, might give it a few more spins sometime.

Yo I feel you Sander, I prefer it to agaytitty byron or wtf it is called but suffers from a similar problem of being pretty dang backgroundy. The songs all stick together in a nicely cohesive fashion and from the titles, I wouldn't be surprised if he wrote it with some sort of plot going on in his head. I only heard it for the first time recently and I mainly use it for homework music but there is a slow rumbling atmosphere which is aided strongly by the minimalist stylings of Johannsson. Basically, I dig and it is pretty, can't fault it too much there. My favourite track is probably the opener but it is the kind of thing that should probably be viewed as a whole.

Ah shit bitches sorry about not posting pretty much all of last rotation. The past month or so has been nuts for me so even when I listened to your stuff I wasn't able to really form a solid opinion on it, cept for Magus', that shit was tight as fuck and some of the best hardcore punk I heard. I did listen to the latest album a little bit ago and shit I loved it, I'm a sucker for any type of classical and this album delivered on that front. The album was gorgeous the whole way through, I love the way it told a story just from the music alone, I'm a sucker for anything that does that. It might've need some trimming down but really I don't care everything here was well polished and executed, I'm gonna check the rest of this guy's stuff out cause this really impressed me. Favorite songs were the Melodia songs because clarinet, you can NEVER go wrong with good clarinet (totally not a clarinetist and biased gaiz) Light 8/10 And shit it's my turn isn't it, anyway Magus I hope this makes up for last time. Labor Days: Aesop RockThe album that got me into hip-hop, and still ranks as my favorite hip-hop album of all time.

This is for Ammy's album. You know, it was a pretty nice album to listen too. I felt that if I listened to it too intently I found it on the boring side. If it was just a noise to add to the background it would work. Beyond that, it flowed really nicely from start to finish. Not too much to say beyond it was a solid album overall. I'm not too sure if I'd go ahead and listen to again or even use it as background music. 7.5/10
1. Johann Johannsson - Fordlindia
Sorry it was a really late response. It was Reading Week for me so I was off University but busy doing other stuff.

Aes is simply a superb rapper, once you get accustomed to the sound of his voice all that remains is a guy with an excellent flow and incredibly good lyrics. Even though the concept on Labor Days is quite simple, Aes really does a good job on describing the everyday drudgeries and the general way of life of the American Average Joe from dawn till dusk. The tracks have a very consistent quality about them, No Regrets is the only track that I don't really care for but other than that one, each track is great. The production by Blockhead is unique and very atmospheric and he gives many tracks this sense of desolation. Overall it's just one of my favorite hiphop records ever, it's on the long side but that's a common thing in hiphop and it's not like listening to excellent music for this long is much of a problem.
1: Aesop Rock - Labor Days 2: Johann Johann Johann Johann - Johannlandia

Aesop Rock is my man, his albums are consistently some of the highest quality hip hop I have heard and ever since my introduction to him through this group when Shepski posted Skelethon I have been a great fan of his work. Labor Days is no different and completely represented his pre-Skelethon sound; densely packed metaphors over Blockhead Beats with that unique voice of his. He chose to go for complicated lyrics for a simple concept which pays off very well as it just makes the album feel very well thought out in all ways. I have one place where I feel this is a lapse though; Daylight is an absolutely fantastic song, one of the best on the album but it feels wasted as track 2 when it has the mood of a closer, to me anyway. Going on from that, SHovel does lack a certain sense of finality but that is still a niggling thing, not something which ruins my enjoyment of this simply fantastic album. Don't know what you were talking about Sander the best tracks are Daylight and No Regrets.
1-Labor Days (Aesop Rock)

So yeah Labor Days, one day I was talking shit about hip-hop and how I haven't heard anything from it that wasn't absolutely stupid and stuff like that, my uncle whose house we were at at the time gave me Labor Days and told me it would change my outlook. Didn't believe it, how wrong was I. Aesop Rock is a lyrical masterpiece, everything here is densly packed and sounds like each individual word was individually picked out just to make the lyrics as fantastic as they are. The production here was, and still is unlike anything else I've heard, barring his other older works, the beats have such a unique vibe to them throughout the entire thing, I've spent listens not even focusing on Aesop's lyrics just to get behind the production here, separately the two are fantastic but when put together it's something truly spectacular. Then a week later Skelethon was posted and my love for Aesop and hip-hop was cemented. So yeah this album is a large part of my personal musical identity but barring even that it's such a fantastic work that I'd give it the same amount of praise even if it wasn't. Strong 9/10 also No Regrets is one of my favorites to Magus you are so wrong daylight is best though

Here are my slightly later than everyone else thoughts. Anyway, I don't remember my thoughts on Skelethon. In any case, I liked Labor Day's quite a bit. The general flow of the album, the lyrics and the spot on vocals make Labor Days an excellent album. While the vocals are the highlight of the album, I wanna mention that some of the little things like the chimes (pretty sure they're chimes,) flute, and the beat in my eyes help turn Labor Days into something really special. Seriously, that beat is awesome, and the flute and chimes just add a little something. Daylight is the best song in the album, but I really like Get Bent. Probably my favourite song on the album. 1. Aesop Rock - Labor Days 2. Johann Johannsson - Fordlindia As for my album: Hum - You'd Prefer an Astronaut
