People are screwed up, and fucked up. And these kidnappers deserve to burn in hell. But there's one thing I disagree with the speaker here.
These kidnappers AREN'T a reason that humanity needs to go extinct. It is a tendency to make a report about something that sticks out or different than the rest so the news get more exciting. So, these kidnappers are scums, yes, does that mean that we are all scums by associations that we're humans like them? No. I believe that these kidnappers were merely a minority compared to humanity as a whole, they are NOT the shining example of what humans really are. Kudos to the speaker for bringing it to light so we became more aware to the dangers and how fucked up people can be, but please... that's not a reason why we should lose faith and think that every humans are scums. That kind of generalization... I don't think I like it.
So overall, yeah. Bottom line, the kidnappers are scums, and just them. I won't consider them the image of humanity in general, regardless.

That sounded exactly like something a certain other Chris would say about this kind of "news." And that's a compliment.

This may need to be moved to Serious Discussion. Someone being tortured is rather serious business.
Still it a shame that stuff like this can happen due to simple idiocy.

I finding it hard to believe in stories like these. Don't get the wrong idea I feel sorry for the victim if it happened. The question is...did it really happened? Cracked showed me that some of these stories have never happened. I'm taking this with a grain of salt.

Well, here's the thing. There's really nothing to disprove the story. Granted, a link to this story would be nice (Boom, use links instead of videos. Trust me, they're more credible), but nothing the guy says about the story seems untrue.
Which begs the question, WHY THE HELL A PSP?!! GOD, I mean, sure, the PSP has an okay library, it's not a terrible handheld. But JEEEEESSSSUUUUUUSSSSSS. IT'S A FREAKING PSP!!! Did these guys know how much it costs? Not much! Everyone's paying attention to the 3DS because Sony can't actually DO much with a handheld. A PSP should cost about $100 RETAIL. THAT'S JUST RETAIL. Here, let me look on Amazon.
-one viewing on amazon.com later-
Yeah, I just checked. These guys could've gotten decent $50-$60 PSP's off of Amazon. Are you kidding? THIS. IS. RIDICULOUS. I'm not gonna go on about how "terrible the human race is" and how "I don't want to live on this planet anymore," because let's be honest, those are bullshit statements. I will say that these are some of the worst people I've seen. And I've seen some fucked up people. Hell, look at some of the threads I made on V3's Serious Discussion.

Threads like this bother me, we hear about a bad thing that someone did and we are all supposed to act surprised and we are all outraged and start blurting things like "these people should burn in hell" and "this lwoers my faith in humanity". We all wish to find somebody to blame and then predate on them, it is a very retributional view of what should be done when someone does something wrong. Each thread comes up and we act as if it is something different but really every single one boils down to a thread where we all paraphrase each other with how much we hate humanity and at this very moment, that specific person who did something wrong. I am not saying that what they did was not wrong and my politics on how punishment for things should never be retributional should not come into it, it is more that posting threads like this feels pointless; we ged that what was done was bad but yet we all need to affirm it just in case someone chirps in to say that it is okay to torture someone. I almost wish that would happen because when I first suggested that there be a serious discussion board then I initially pitched it as 'Extended Discussion' in which some form of discourse or debate could be created on controversial issues. Then it turns out that we weren't allowed to talk about politics or religion and whilst we technically are allowed to talk about it now, I am the kind of person who is likely to inadvertently step over a line. Perhaps I got the wrong idea from the start but I still don't think that news story after news story after news story on murder/torture/rape being posted here is the best idea. The reason why we 'lose our faith in humanity' is because the media is very predatory on negative issues so the fact that good things are not widely reported on makes people down on the world, spreading it here under the pretense of serious discussion simply widens the pessimistic outlook championed by media outlets. Keep posting what you want, this is the last speech I will make on the matter but to me simply repeating what everyone else says but veiled slightly differently does not constitute discussion and they are put here so that we can unite in the hatred of another human being, feels wrong.
