I has an idea!
A character, any racial distinction i'm thinking at the moment, that's more of a sarcastic, not giver of F***'s scientist, that thinks logically for battles and weaponry. He is also a Nicola Tesla fanboy, and loves to spend his time outside of battle building things he thinks many of the great scientists would have built with modern technology.He'd basically be a mix between offensive and defensive, depending on your loadout. Heck, if you get a certain group of unlockable, he could be fit in specialized classes.
Main weapon: A Grappling hook type weapon, and since each class can equip different types, why not have one a straight grabbling hook gun that can take you to high places quickly, push characters like medics away really quickly and attack to characters and electrocute them to death while dragging them around. It can also grab health packs and the such from a distance
Another one could be a more spear one, that can't grab health packs, but can still grapple into enemies while doing more damage both on impact and with activating the electricity through the cord.This one would be less of a tool and more of a weapon, while still being able to grapple you to different places, just with less range.
And the last one you could unlock, of which I have thought of, is a chainsaw launcher, of which wouldn't be able to grapple you to different places, nor grab health pack and other items. Yet, it does the most damage, and latches into enemies temporarily, causing damage over time for a bit.
Secondary: The main idea is a semi-automatic rifle equipped with ammo that sticks into the ground or wall, and becomes and electric/poison/fire trap in a one foot circle. You could launch multiple in one path, to weaken enemies as the come through. or conserve them to do long term damage to enemies until a medic heals them. They would wear out as enemies walk through them, and be slightly noticeable like the demoman's bombs.
The Electric one would do the most damage right when the walk through one or ar hit by one, the fire would be like taking a quick blast from the Pyro, unless you stand on it for a few minutes like a moron, and the poison would slow you down and do small continuos damage until 15 seconds after of which a medic can heal it out, or you die.
You could also have these act more as a tag that could point out spies, as if one of your red teammates has a red jabber sticking out of them, you know they're a spy.
Finally, his melee weapons would mostly be spears, because TF2 need more front assault jabbing. One could be an electric one, on could inflict poison damage, one could just be a faster attacking normal spear.
So, thoughts, suggestions, regrets?
That is a great idea but it might end up being a bit too complicated personally..
