I've been reading the Maximum Ride manga, and it's amazing. I also have the first two volumes of Trigun: Maximum, but I want to watch the first Trigun first.

I suppose I should mention that I always keep up on Akame ga Kill, which got announced recently for an anime adaption. Y'all should join in on the fun before if you get the chance. It's easily one of the most twisted things I've ever read. Characters having eyes gouged out, limbs broken and removed, torture, execution by boiling, characters having their faces sliced off, crucifixion, a pregnant woman being torn apart, a woman being assaulted by a dog, and the new chapter out today added mass rape including children to this list.

My library has the Phoenix Wright mangas. Those are so good, I really feel like those are real cases.
My favorite manga character is Russi Clover.

On the word of the Great Serbian among us, I am reading the WataMote manga in hope that it actually goes somewhere unlike the show which just dicked around until the last 2 episodes. Both the manga and anime of Watamote aren't worth anyone's time, if I have to be honest. For crying out loud, it screams white knighting.

^ In what sense?

In the sense that the manga is designed to pity the protagonist(forgot her name and have few intentions to remember it) because of her supposedly ugly appearance and awkward social life, when the first is BS(the way she was drawn is decent looking enough to make her "ugliness" merely conceptual) and the second is played so over the top is not even comedic. I've been isolated myself, and I can tell that is exaggerated. PS: Why don't you quote?

I've been isolated myself, and I can tell that is exaggerated. PS: Why don't you quote? Well, Tomoko is portrayed as "normal-looking", aside from her messy hair and eye shadows from lack of sleep. The exaggation of ugliness only goes through her head, which, let's be frank, is something all teenage girls obsess about, and character-wise is a very realistic trait Tomoko exhibits. I find it amazing how this entire trait is explained and portrayed in the very first two chapters! As for the second point, I'm not too sure what you mean by "exaggerated", but I will say I adore and relate to the manga because I share a lot of Tomoko's mental processes and descision-making. I, just like Tomoko in high school, would often make extraordinary sacrifices like taking detours or locking myself in the bathroom and risk self-sabotage if it only meant I get to avoid human contact and talking to people! It's incredibly pathetic, but I admit to it, I have done 90% of the stuff Tomoko's done in the manga first-hand. Tomoko's streak of misfortunes is conveniently unlucky to make it funny, but it's also there to make a point: For some people, honestly, the story of Tomoko is the story of their everyday reality, and such people too need to have a spotlight and an immersive character study and a look in the daily life of. Tomoko is a character that, if it didn't exist already, it would've been necessary to invent. There just isn't any other manga out there that speaks about social anxiety, insecurity, deformed views on reality and genuine longing for human contact, love and acceptance like Watamote does. I don't see how one would white-knight Tomoko, because frankly, every misfortune that falls upon her is entirely her own fault, because her cynical mindset(made to feed on her lack of courage) prevents her from making true friends and doing constructive things. Even in the later parts of the manga she is portrayed as having incredibly cruel tendencies and can often be a complete bitch to both unkown people and her loved ones. And the manga makes a clear message that what you reap is what you sow, as she just wallows in her misery asking herself why did it all happen and having no one else but herself to blame. Is she pitiable? Absolutely. But her misdoings, confusion, and subsequent self-reflection is what makes her such a compelling character portrait, and it's what makes her feel like such a real person. And I don't quote because I simply don't see the need to and it's faster. : P

I'm still hesitant since, well, I still find some of her traits uninteresting or unrelatable. That, and the fact I had a sudden popularity spike in high school after a secondary of isolation and even some bullying (Did people loved me? Not really, but the certainly knew about me, and not in a bullying fashion. It was quite nice...and weird at the same time) And trust me, I HAVE seen people white knighting her. It's almost brainless. And you should quote more often. Depending on the thread, your response can get lost if they're a lot posts on it(if these responses weren't quoted in the Smash Bros thread, chances are neither of us would ever get them)

So, if anyone is interested, All You Need Is Kill has been pretty entertaining so far. Pretty basic Groundhog's Day situation, but I'm enjoying it. Only a few chapters in at this point too.
