Well... the thing is there are thousands of shows out there. Want me to list a 'few' of them? House, sonic X, Lie to me, midsommer murders, Dick and Dom in da bungalow, catchphrase, blockbusters, Coronation street, Eastenders, Stupid, (yes, there is a show called 'Stupid') Deal or no deal, Redwall, Ben 10, Johnny Bravo, Scooby-doo, Spongebob squarepants, victorious, icarly, ruby gloom, horrible histories, the simpsons, futurama, Skatoony, Lewis, Friends, How I met your mother, 2 broke girls... DO YOU GET MY POINT!!! Oh, and i have films to watch, video games to play, Let's plays to watch, School to go to, places to go, people to see... So if i'm watching something, it has to be A-Grade material true i haven't watched it. sooooo... what should I compare it to? i know... how about another show where animals are the main characters!!! Redwall. better title theme, more serious feel, good humour and lively characters who are easier to connect with, enemy development, and the extremely sad death scenes of queen warbeak and logalog... this programme manages to produce real fear, unlike MLP. I mean, seriously, they're not going to kill off fluttershy, are they? EVERYTHING can be compared in how fun it looks. MLP... 6 ponies saving the world (girly power rangers, much?). You'd have to do something AMAZING to make that worth my time. Compare that to megaman X, you get to save the world YOURself, everything that happens in the game happens to YOU (by the way, you're also outnumbered, that helps with the feel of it too) you could say that... yeah, video games are generally more fun than... campfire songs, for example. but then you would never sing campfire songs because gaming is more fun. thing is, I discovered MLP through Joshscorcher. the videos were very entertaining, I really can't complain about them I thought Twilight learning about friendship included the fact that friends can't be replaced, but in series 2 she replaces Rainbow dash with spike... ...oh look, a complaint. As i said Anything can be compared to Anything by how fun it looks. MLP doesn't look fun to watch when compared to...well... a quote from Dick and Dom in da bugalow is all i need for this: 'I GOT MY HEAD IN MY PANTS! JUST LIKE THEY DO IN FRANCE! I'M GONNA TAKE A CHANCE! AND THE KNICKERS ON YOUR NOODLE PRANCE AND DANCE IN MY PANTS' the pants dance, a real classic. You do know you lost all credibility by saying you never watched the show, right? You can't base your opinion on it if all you watched was a shortned summary by a reviewer. Oh yea, and the whole replacing Rainbow Dash with Spike was a 2 minute joke!

Oh boy, Imma do me some post vivisection: Well... the thing is there are thousands of shows out there. So if i'm watching something, it has to be A-Grade material Hang on, let me emphasize your next statement: true i haven't watched it. There, let's keep those words in mind while reading the rest. I'll ignore the fact that you hereby lose most of your credibility. sooooo... what should I compare it to? i know... how about another show where animals are the main characters!!! Redwall. better title theme, more serious feel, good humour and lively characters who are easier to connect with, enemy development, and the extremely sad death scenes of queen warbeak and logalog... this programme manages to produce real fear, unlike MLP. I mean, seriously, they're not going to kill off fluttershy, are they? You keep judging it AS IF you've watched it. True, you can hear the title theme anywhere you want, but how can you know the show's sense of humour, the characters and the general atmosphere of it without watching at least one single episode? Also, why does any character have to die? Why make it all grimdark? EVERYTHING can be compared in how fun it looks. MLP... 6 ponies saving the world (girly power rangers, much?). You'd have to do something AMAZING to make that worth my time. A: Yes, things can be compared in how fun they look, but fun isn't the same for everyone. Simon over there (Yes you Simon) might enjoy twiddling with his willy in front of his family while sticking a screwdriver up his arse, but that doesn't mean anybody else does. B: They only actively save "the world" three times; the first two episodes of both seasons and the last two of the second. (all three were two-parters.) Compare that to megaman X, you get to save the world YOURself, everything that happens in the game happens to YOU (by the way, you're also outnumbered, that helps with the feel of it too) NO. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. No. This is the point were I completely stopped taking you seriously. You can't say a game is better than a cartoon "because you do it yourself", that's an inherent advantage of the medium. you could say that... yeah, video games are generally more fun than... campfire songs, for example. but then you would never sing campfire songs because gaming is more fun. thing is, I discovered MLP through Joshscorcher. the videos were very entertaining, I really can't complain about them 'Myes, of course. And by this, you're trying to say... what exactly? I thought Twilight learning about friendship included the fact that friends can't be replaced, but in series 2 she replaces Rainbow dash with spike... ...oh look, a complaint. Oh look, you're being silly again. A: She's LEARNING about friendship, part of learning is COCKING UP. B: May I remind you that the villain enjoys manipulating others into their polar opposites? Sure, he did it to the others through hypnosis, but it's never stated he can ONLY manipulate other through hypnosis. C: How do you know this without watching it? As i said Anything can be compared to Anything by how fun it looks. MLP doesn't look fun to watch when compared to...well... a quote from Dick and Dom in da bugalow is all i need for this: 'I GOT MY HEAD IN MY PANTS! JUST LIKE THEY DO IN FRANCE! I'M GONNA TAKE A CHANCE! AND THE KNICKERS ON YOUR NOODLE PRANCE AND DANCE IN MY PANTS' the pants dance, a real classic. I fail to see what's so funny about that. Maybe it's hilarious in whatever it came from, but hey, since I can compare anything with anything with only the barest minimum of knowledge about the subject, I'm quite sure that Dick and Dom thing is utter rubbish and I can't understand why anyone would like it. Seriously though, in the short time you've been active here, you haven't really build up a good reputation with me. If you don't understand something, you look the other way for a moment, and if it doesn't go away you do some research on it. You don't casually brush it aside and refuse to look at it again. That would be the end of a reasonable, intelligent society. Or what little we have left of that. Note: When addressed Simon, I didn't really know if any Simon was reading this. I just wanted to mess with the mind of all Simons that happened to read it.

The spiritual predecessor of SHED.mov. Personally, I found this more disturbing.

Probably because this one kept the characters (relatively) true to the show, whereas with shed.mov they were quite different on top of the... unpleasant part.

look, it's obvious that you didn't get my point. I only blame myself for that; i'm not too good at making points. So let's list all the games i could be playing, all the films, let's plays and shows I could be watching instead of this, yeah? NO. Because even with 60000 syllables there still isn't enough space. i just find playing video games much more enjoyable than watching ponies. or idiot sponges. Or Murders. or most things on telly for that matter.
MLP is lucky, it got about 50 minutes of my time (through the firery joker) while most shows get shtty 2 min adverts...
the point about Twilight replacing Rainbow dash with spike is perfectly good, sorry.
Dick and dom is a kids show for children. from my earlier childhood. please don't ruin my earlier childhood. oh, and 10 years on they're still showing clips of it. It was that awesome
So how is MLP better than Redwall? my opinion is always open to change, so please; change it. or at least try.
i've been round youtube, watched an episode, raised my expectations and... sniggered once. Of course, this my own opinion, honestly my mind enjoys different things to yours.

Jonnathun, the fact that you have stated Sonic X is better, without watching the damn thing, pretty much unvalidifies your opinion here and any opinion you will ever have because you, sir, are a fiend and a swindler.

If you still don't like it, that is fine. We are a community that believes in respecting others opinions, but when you judge something when you haven't seen it, then we have a problem. If you want recommendations on which episodes to watch, I suggest both season starters and finales. Come back and give your opinion when you're done .

Or Murders. or most things on telly for that matter. So you like games more than cartoons in general? Why didn't you say so from the beginning, that would have been better than just singling out one specific cartoon. That would've made your point a lot better. It was that awesome Blimey mate, if it's that easily ruined by one of the imaginary people on the internet, it makes me believe your childhood wasn't that good to begin with. I never intended to do so, I was simply applying your "I don't need to have watched it, I can judge the entire thing anyway"-logic to something I haven't seen. Oh, and Alfred J. Kwak, a twenty years old show from MY childhood, is still regularly broadcasted to this very day, so by your logic that makes it objectively better than your show. Is it? I dunno, I don't Dick and Dom so I couldn't say. All I can say is that Alfred J. Kwak has the most realistic portrayal of Hitler I've ever seen to this very day. (Y'know, for kids!) So how is MLP better than Redwall? my opinion is always open to change, so please; change it. or at least try. I never said it was better than Redwall, I don't even know that show. I just don't like it when people judge something as if they've watched the entire thing after merely a first look. You can like or dislike whatever show you want, and my opinion on anything is no better than yours or whoever else's. i've been round youtube, watched an episode, raised my expectations and... sniggered once. Of course, this my own opinion, honestly my mind enjoys different things to yours, case closed No. No no no no no no no. You don't just end a discussion by saying "case closed", or "let's just agree to disagree". You only say that when you WANT to "win" a conversation, but you're not getting anywhere close. (I'd almost ask for a complete ban on that expression.) A discussion only ends when all parties involved agree it should, and right now I don't. What did you really want to achieve by posting in this thread? Simply posting here implies that you're at least interested in knowing why others like it and want them to explain it to you, but your further posts make it clear you don't care one bit for their opinions. If you just wanted to say you don't like it and can't understand why other people DO like it, then there's a better place for that.

I can't STAND that "______ ruined my childhood" or "Don't ruin my childhood" bullcrap. Has your childhood REALLY been ruined? No, it hasn't, not from a cartoon at least. My childhood was quite literally destroyed when I was 8, so do stop throwing it around like it did serious harm to you as a child. That goes for everyone, really.

Anyhoo, I found out there would be a Dutch dub of the show on television this morning. As curious as I tend to be, I decided to watch a bit of it to check out the voice acting. Turns out it wasn't a Dutch dub.
It was a Flemish dub.
If you're not in any way familiar with the Dutch/Flemish relations, the Flemish think we're cheapskates, and we think the Flemish are stupid. We can't help it, it's just ingrained in our minds. The influence this had on the show was... well, I couldn't watch it for more than five minutes. The voices were that hilariously bad.

Well, I watched a few of the episodes and honestly? I didn't laugh a lot. As i presumed. So, now we can get back to the original question i was trying to ask; what's the big fuss? It's... okay, but it's no total drama... I just want to hear what you guys like especially about the series.

Well written stories, archetypal characters done with justice, great interaction and development in the first series, stunning animation with vibrant colors, and references only an older audience would get come to mind.
