I ask this mostly out of curiosity. I personally prefer English dubs for a few reasons: 1) I grew up with dubbed anime 2) I like to understand what everyone's saying without having to read everything 3) I usually prefer the English voice actors
The only anime I've watched where I preferred the subbed version is Familiar of Zero -- I couldn't stand Saito's English voice. However, I will watch subs if there isn't a dub available or occasionally to compare the differences between sub and dub. But what about you guys?

Subs all the way for me, because that's what I grew up with. Here in the Netherlands we didn't even have Dutch subtitles on our Cartoon Network (our first American cartoon channel) until mid-'97, and Fox Kids (the second one) didn't start airing until around the same time, which was also (mostly) subtitled. So yeah, kinda obvious why I don't mind reading text at the bottom of the screen and prefer everything in its original language. The fact that the quality of Dutch voice acting for anything that isn't a feature-length Disney movie is terrible kinda helps too.
There's two exceptions though: The American dub of Dragon Ball Z/GT, and the Dutch dub of Pokémon. Not because they're better, but because silly nostalgia.

I'm mostly a sub kind of guy. For me, the Japanese VAs do a better job in conveying emotions and bringing life to their characters. Most of the time, they make what they say very believable. It's true that the English VAs do this, too, but I just find the Japanese do a better job at it (at least in anime). It is also especially better than the Dub in terms of kid anime. I grew up with the subbed Digimon, which had better songs, voices, and writing than the pun-filled dubbed one. This is also the same with anime like Rockman.Exe and Card Captor Sakura. I can only think of two anime that I prefer dubbed. One is Full Metal Alchemist, because they sound just as natural as the Japanese VA, but it's advantage is that the English VA for Edward fits better than his Japanese one. The second is Dragon Ball Z, because my God, the Japanese VA for Goku sounds so annoying.
I'm always gonna love sub more, but I can appreciate a good dub.

I stick with sub only because its more convenient. Funimation has full shows for mobile, only for sub so if I ever feel like watching the entirety of about 110 shows with an average of 20 episodes, so long as I choose sub I can watch what I want legally. Otherwise I get an average of 3 episodes a series. Crunchyroll also only really does sub anymore. Also I find it easier to watch subs as I can read whats going on and see it, rather than just hear and see it. It's why I have subs on my regular //english// television shows too.

Sub. You get to the point where it feels weird to watch dubbed anime.

I prefer dubs.
The reason for that is because I prefer to watch anime rather than having to read some text at the bottom. Also, since Portuguese dubs are known for being utter shit, the quality of the dub doesn't affect me that much because they are usually better than any Portuguese dub out there

For me I'd have to be dubs, I'm perfectly fine watching subs but I like to multitask by checking twitter or working on homework so dubs allow me to follow what's happening without having to pay full attention.

Dubs for me. I just generally like seeing hearing it and understanding it so I can multi-task more, and I actually love recognizing voice actors (some of the Funimation VAs like Vic Mignogna and Todd Haberkorn and Johnny Yong Bosch that some say are overused are actually some of my favorite VAs) and tend to use their voices in my head for my own characters sometimes (I don't sound nerdy at all right now I'm sure). So yeah, I just kind of prefer it to subs when possible, even if the dubs aren't fantastic.

Dub, mainly because I like the voice actors better.

I'll watch either one so long as the quality of a dub is not awful.

Don't know. I think that I prefer Watch shows dubbed if it takes Place outside Japan like Black Lagoon, Space Dandy and Baccano (Not counting Berserk I think the sub is better than the dub there. Shows that takes Place in Japan I prefer sub because it's more natural.

I'm personally neutral in the debate but I find watching subtitles to be more convenient. For one I choose to watch my anime legally via Hulu and Crunchyroll in which both services only stream in subtitles (with some exceptions). A second reason is that if a show interests me rather than waiting a year for a dub I can watch the show as it's airing or a short while after it's aired subtitled and heck there's great shows out there with no dub at the moment (Ex. Chuunibyou, Pandora Hearts). However I am by no means a dub hater. If I'm given an opportunity to do so legally (I.E.: Netflix, or brief periods of dubbed streams on Hulu) I might consider watching a show dubbed. In fact I have a lot of appreciation for English dub voice actors and if I liked a show while watching it subtitled I will buy the show on DVD to watch it again dubbed. In fact usually if I watch a show dubbed I end up preferring the dub to the Japanese version since it's easier for me to analyze acting and performances in my own language. But if I had to say so I find something to enjoy in both subtitled and dubbed anime.

Generally subs for me, unless the dub is exceptionally good.
