I'm surprised that we don't have a FF thread. At first let's adress the elephant in the room : FF13-2-2(I'm going to stick to that name). I'm probably going to buy, more out of morbid curiosity. There is one thing that might stop me: Can't.Comprehend.Awfulness. I was seriouly looking for other version of the game that doesn't have that cover,I would even pay more. Anyway,I enjoyed most FF game I played, with the exception of 13,which IMO is abysmal. 9 is the best, obviously.

I'm a little curious in Lighting Return as well, chance of it being good doesn't look that high, but I'm willing.
Still, as for the rest of the series, I do agree about IX. 3rd favorite game of all time actually. My 2nd favorite Final Fantasy is 12 (I'm a very patient person) and the 3rd favorite is V (just beaten it recently and OH MY FUCKING GOD I LOVE THIS GAME)

I still need to play 5 and I really liked the international version of 12.It's basic 12 with better leveling system, fast forward button and additonal content. Right now I'm playing Tactic for the PSP(the supiror version btw) I'm not sure what to think about the game,I need to play it more before I can make up my mind.

I already heard about the ending. It's surprising how these endings keep getting worse and worse.

Only two things to say:
1. I wanna play FF9 some day. 2. Cantata Mortis & God in Fire is my favorite song from the series, and is in my Top 10 boss themes.

I've only played Final Fantasy 3 & 4.
I swear. People rip on Pokemon for being slow? FF 3 & 4 are two of the slowest games I've ever played.

Even though I think it lack in the gameplay department, the stories don't suit me, and the majority of characters can rot in a flaming pit, I'll give a plus to its presentation.

Also, people totally rip on IV for being slow. It's an RPG from 1991, that's like the very first complaint people have about it.

Also, you can't use the time period as an excuse. Earthbound has pretty quick battles, and it was created around the same time.

It's part of the reason it has aged so well. Also, the leap from 1991 to 1994 was enormous in terms of RPGs. Don't expect a RPG from 1991 to play like a RPG from 1994 because developers learned how to speed shit up in a scant 3 years.

It is a time period. It is like saying Tom Sawyer is slow paced, and that the time period it was in is not a argument. All books during that time had similar attributes. Same with RPGs.
